Disaster

This is only going to be a short note but I just wanted to announce that our baby girl born almost 5 months ago passed away yesterday, Aug 25.
There aren’t really words to describe how gut wrenching this experience is, I’ll surely be away from KDE and other activities for a bit as my family tries to cope and go through the grieving process. :-(

The story behind the song is that the lead singer of the band lost his young daughter to meningitis. The guitarplayer/composer of the band then wrote this song to his friend. They recorded it, and also have played it during live performances. Nobody familiar with the background for the song leaves untouched.

I just want to say thanks for all of the expressions of support, I really do appreciate the kind words. The support our family has received over the past couple of days, from my family and friends across the world is deeply appreciated.
The only word we have on the cause of death, even after the autopsy, is that they think it was due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Which is to say, they’re not sure at all. She was alive and breathing as late as 0530-0600 that morning, but was dead by 0930, and apparently died in her sleep.
We plan on having a memorial service on Saturday with local friends/family in the Georgia area, and Emma’s remains will be cremated. We still haven’t decided if we are going to have a memorial fund or not.
I just can’t get over how sudden and unexpected this is. She had low weight and sput up a lot but other than that was in great health. She had given us so much joy over the nearly 5 months she was alive, and then she was taken from all of us, leaving instead a void, a nothing where there used to be a promise, of a future to experience…
…holy crap. I don’t even know what to say. Having two girls that I deeply love, I cannot imagine how this would feel. I just started learning Qt and KDE/plasma etc, so this is one of my first times through these blogs on the planet…and I’m not sure what I could personally do to help, but if there is going to be a memorial fund please let us know where a donation could be made out to.

As you know KDE is not just our software, it is above all a community of people that support each other. I am glad that you could find the strength to post during this hard time, so we could at least direct our hearts and minds to help you and your family go through this, in silence.
