The sliding is even more customizable by choosing a different Kart and yeah, make sure you play in manual mode. If you win some cups you will get new Karts of Bikes with even more different sliding behaviours. Just choose the one that you like the most.

You are right that it happens *really* often that you get hit by a couple of items one by another. But if you know the circuits a bit better you will be able to extend your lead enough to no be overtaken by all of your enemys.

And after all, check out the online gaming mode. It’s really great fun!

The one ting that differs from N64 and I don’t like that much, is when you get hit by an item you will loose also the item currently stored in the top left corner. On N64 I think you just lost the one already attached to your Kart.

eg. I use toad in the bullet bike. That bike will turn quickly in a slide - I kept hitting the inside corner when I started with it. However, the standard bike turns slower and slides sideways more.

On some karts, the act of jumping into a slide turning right will actually cause the kart to go to the left first.

Thomas: You should be able to post comments fine using Konqueror (it’s what I use). You do need to enable JS (or cut and paste the number it mentioned, let me know if no number shows up :) I had to switch to that method due to all the blog spam which I can’t filter away half of the year.

And did you know you can’t seem to post replys with konqueror? I just get a lame “In order to prevent spam, you must manually copy the given number if you do not have JavaScript enabled. Please go back and try again.” message.
